Sergey Melnitchenko, born in 1991 in Mykolaiv, is among the most prominent contemporary Ukrainian photographers. His work blends documentary and staged elements, exploring themes of the body, war, social vulnerability, and everyday life.
Starting photography in 2009, he soon joined UPHA. In 2017, he won the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award for his “Behind the Scenes” series shot in China. Melnychenko has exhibited worldwide, with works held in major European and US collections.
In 2018, he founded the MYPH platform, uniting young Ukrainian photographers and fostering a new wave of conceptual photography in Ukraine.
Behind the glitter of the stage lies a truth sharper than the spotlight’s glare.
