Roman Mykhailov, born in 1989 in Kharkiv, graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Since 2010, he has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. He lives and works in Kyiv.
His work spans abstract painting, graphic art, and large-scale installations, often incorporating industrial materials and original techniques. Themes of destruction and transformation run through his practice, reflecting cultural memory and human inner states.
He has participated in international group exhibitions such as the III Odesa Biennale of Contemporary Art (2013), “I am a drop in the ocean” (Vienna, 2014), “Paper.World.Art” (Kyiv, 2015), and the “Ukraine – scene libre” festival (Paris, 2015). His solo projects have been showcased in Kyiv and Budapest, as well as at European art fairs.
My installations are a dialogue between material and viewer, where destruction opens a path to new meanings.
